Wisdom Teachings from the Indigenous and Insight Meditation Traditions

Join Bonnie Duran, Carol Cano, Jeanne Corrigal,and Karen Wakonda for this hybrid daylong retreat. They will weave Indigenous and Buddhist ways of knowing, exploring connections in the teachings of mindfulness, kindness, and Indigenous knowledge systems.
This full day meditation retreat will be an opportunity for experienced meditators to connect to nature, to our animal brethren, and to other Buddhist practitioners at the site of the Rivendell Farmed Animal Sanctuary.

Issa will talk about his work and vision for the Garden of Hope, located in the West Bank and the first mindfulness center in Palestine. He will talk about his work as a peace activist with the Palestinian society and also with Israeli and international peace activists. He will also talk about the current situation in the West Bank, where he lives. Dharma teacher Dorit will talk about the meaning of the cooperation with Issa around the Garden of Hope and the current, general atmosphere in Israel.

An Insight Dialogue and Race Equity Program

This eight-week series for white-bodied people integrates the transformative Buddhist practice of Insight Dialogue (relational mindfulness) with anti-racism education. Facilitated by Anita Bermont, Holly Nelson-Johnson, Judy Bernstein, Patricia Fontaine, and Sue Brown.
CS is a three-month immersion in Buddhist wisdom, meditation, community building and nature connection for 18-25 year olds. It’s a contemplative laboratory where we learn and practice the roots of peace we believe are needed now more than ever in this time of political, ecological and social turmoil. Our capacity to see with the heart - and respond skillfully and courageously - stems from the quality with which we listen, within and out, to ourselves, each other, and the natural world.
