This Position
We are looking for a volunteer who is drawn to connect with and support our community members. The person in this position offers a welcoming presence and is willing to answer questions from our community members and guide them in navigating our website, registering for our programs, and engaging in those programs. This person should also have a general knowledge, or an interest in developing such knowledge, in the ecodharma community in general. Our support volunteer acts as a liaison between our community members and the One Earth Sangha team.
As the Sangha Support Volunteer provides an essential personal connection between a community member and One Earth Sangha, this volunteer must be sensitive to offering a positive interaction. It is important that this volunteer have excellent written communication skills that are attuned to clarity and sensitivity and supported by deep listening, patience, kindness, and compassion.
Responsibilities
- Regularly monitoring and responding to emails to One Earth Sangha in our online support portal. This task may call for, among other things, directly responding to a reflection shared by a community member; answering a direct inquiry regarding one of our programs and registration; or providing information regarding ecodharma or ecodharma/meditation communities.
- When appropriate, routing emails to relevant team members
- Providing support to community members who wish to register for programs, have questions about our programs, or are having difficulties with the registration process
- Attending weekly team meetings for companionship, collaboration, alignment, and mutual support
- Learning about One Earth Sangha’s basic technologies, programming and operations so as to provide thorough support to community members.
- Asking for help when you need it.
- Depending on your availability and interest, you might help the team with other tasks that support the One Earth Sangha community.
Qualifications
- An alignment with the mission of One Earth Sangha and a desire to support our community.
- A willingness to compassionately and kindly connect with a wide variety of people who are interested in our mission, programs, and community.
- The ability to respond to community members in writing with attention to detail and clarity.
- Familiarity or a willingness to become familiar with using basic web tools like email support portals and our internal information systems.
- Reside in a timezone within 7 hours of US Eastern.
Position Details
- Time: 1-3 hours/week, depending on the lifecycles of our programs
- Collaboration: online
- Schedule: This flexible position allows the volunteer to set their own schedule. Ideally, this volunteer will be available for a weekly team meeting, a check-in with the operations manager, and occasional other meetings, which occur remotely (on Zoom) during daytime working hours in the US
- Touch Point for Coordination: Companion support volunteers and/or Operations Manager
