Earth Care Week 2018
Date(s) - Oct 7, 2018 - Oct 14, 2018

One Earth Sangha
Every fall, for the first Sunday to Sunday in October, we encourage all meditation centers, leaders and practitioners to turn the light of the Dharma towards the ecological crises we all face. This is an invitation to dedicate an evening talk, discussion, animal-friendly potluck, or accessible walk through nearby woods to the considerable gifts the Dharma offers to our present ecological situation.
With its thorough commitment to non-judgmental awareness, the Dharma can help us understand how we got to this place of endangering our shared Mother, our nature-family, already-marginalized communities on the front lines of climate change, future generations and our home. In addition, how we can work skillfully with the myriad of emotional challenges we face in coming to terms with this condition. And, finally, from a place of authentic and open connection, bring forward a robust, compassionate, courageous response.
This event is hosted by One Earth Sangha.
For more information, see the event website here.
One Earth Sangha offers a global list of events that express a Buddhist / mindfulness response to ecological crises. We invite you to join or add events that develop and demonstrate our interdependence with all of life! Events that address multiple issues (e.g., racism, economic injustice and environmental health) are encouraged. You’re invited to list events from your local sangha, including earth-oriented day-longs, retreats and even regular sangha meetings. We also want you to share demonstration and direct action events. You, the members of our Sangha, are encouraged to submit events, whether they be from the Dharma community, other faith groups or secular, where you wish to gather other Buddhist / mindfulness practitioners to participate. To submit an event, please email us.
This growing list of events will always be available here and in the main menu under “Get Involved.”
