Dharma and Nature

Connecting with the Natural World Around Us

Dharma teacher, community organizer, and birder Anushka Fernandopulle led this EcoDharma Exploration on September 24, 2023.

One of the translations of Dharma is Nature. As we become aware of ourselves as part of nature we can recognize more about the non-human relatives around us. Practicing awareness in this way is supportive of the development of wisdom and compassion and can positively impact our perspective on Climate Justice movements and our lives.

Birder and Dharma Teacher Anushka Fernandopulle led this EcoDharma Exploration on September 24, 2023.

At Anushka’s request, we did not record this EcoDharma Exploration. We apologize for our previous promise to provide the recording of the gathering, which we were not able to honor.

Anushka Fernandopulle trained in Buddhist meditation for over 30 years. After studying Buddhism at Harvard, she spent four years in full-time meditation training in the US, India and Sri Lanka. She was invited to teach Dharma in 1998 and later went through a four year meditation teacher training program with Jack Kornfield, Joseph Goldstein, Sharon Salzberg and other leading teachers. Her teaching is informed by nature, creative arts, political engagement, and modern urban life. For more info visit: Anushkaf.org.
