Please tell us about your work, passions and/or talents with respect to the climate or justice movement

I left a conventionally successful silicon valley career and restarted with big dreams in the conservation non-profit sector. With naïve dreams appropriately shattered, I cried in the lap of the Earth. Having found precious friends and the even more precious Dharma, I cofounded and now direct One Earth Sangha. This work sets my direction and defines my life.

What is your past experience with trauma/stress healing?

I have no experience with trauma or trauma healing formally speaking. Informally, it is within and all around me. To learn of and stay attuned to climate crisis is of course traumatizing. In some ways, our work at One Earth Sangha aims to support human in transforming this experience of trauma into empowered responsiveness.

What are your goals for participating in this course?

In various activism projects, my heart has broken many times. I believe the Dharma holds for us a path of fierce engagement but yearn to understand what that can really look like. Moreover, I want to understand how my own attachments to comfort, safety, and a coherent self might thwart my beautiful intentions.

I have some basic knowledge of permaculture principles but want to go much deeper there and understand how this domain, the Earth’s Dharma?, can inspire and guide my efforts to challenge ecological violence.

What are some communities you’re a part of that might benefit from what you would be learning in this course?

One Earth Sangha and local DC activism groups such as ShutDownDC.

Are you comfortable using Zoom and available on the dates below?

For the most part, yes. I will be teaching a weekend retreat on May 29. In June or July I will be traveling to New Mexico to be with family so I might need to miss one additional session. In the fall, I’m scheduled to teach another weekend retreat but at this point I might be able to set it up so I can still join the Saturday session if it conflicts.

Time Commitment

It feels scary, exciting, and necessary. I will make time for this.
