Please tell us about your work, passions and/or talents with respect to the climate or justice movement | My background is in nursing-I spent 25+ years working in low-income communities providing health and mental health care to individuals and families. I saw first-hand the struggles of poverty and how in-justice and environmental injustices impact people’s ability to be healthy and thrive. I have a deep passion for racial justice and spent the last 15 years (working in health and healthcare improvement with a deep focus on equity in achieving health and healthcare outcomes. I am also very passionate about climate justice, however, this is an area I have little direct action and experience in moving forward. |
What is your past experience with trauma/stress healing? | I have been in therapy myself and spent 7 years of intensive psycho-somatic study in Boulder, Colorado. Over the years I have been a part of many, and offered some my self, therapy workshops focused on somatic healing. I was also a therapist for the Boulder County Mental Health Center in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s. Alot of the focus on trauma has emerged since my time as a therapist, however, I am very familiar with the trauma literature as it applies to health and healthcare outcomes. |

Connections | Mylene and Ralph are a part of Boulder-SURJ and both have taken the Facing Racism course offered by Soul2Soul Sisters. Ralph and I were together in the Fall 2020 cohort of Facing Racism where we met and have a continued connection. Both Mylene and Ralph have long histories and roots in racial justice issues and I believe their commitment to be deep and robust. |
