About You
You have tech chops and want to use your skills for meaningful work. Specifically, you are excited about responding to climate and other ecological and social crises through a Dharma lens. You might have coding skills but, more importantly, a natural learner of technology with a strong mind for logic and building user-friendly, reliable solutions. You’re opinionated about technology without being snobbish. You might even have a strange affection for spreadsheet formulas. You love working on teams and are willing to help fill in the gaps in our operational and front-facing solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities
Technology is the backbone of our Virtual EcoDharma center. We are looking for someone who is not necessarily a coder but with an affinity for technology and data management along with the desire to use your skills for meaningful work. Help us build powerful, friendly solutions for our team, our Sangha, and the Earth.
- Building and maintaining functional solutions using Wordpress solution, including Plugins, custom post-types, templates, forms, and workflows
- Improving the site for users by attending to page load time, usability and reliability
- Website maintenance including plugin updates as well as detecting and resolving issues
- Wrangling lots data in spreadsheets and connecting dataflows to business processes
- Working with staff and volunteers on producing posts, events, videos, and other content
- Working with staff and volunteers to test new solutions
- Handling tier 2 tech support questions with speed, accuracy, and friendliness
Qualifications
Beyond the general description above, qualified candidates will have
- Experience with Wordpress or similar website technology
- Styling with CSS or, even better, SASS
- Experience with Google Sheets (or Excel) to organize and analyze lots of data
- Excellent communications and teamwork skills
- Familiarity with Gravity Forms and/or Elementor is a plus
- Strong coding skills with PHP or a similar language is even better
- Graphic design sensibilities and video editing experience are also valuable
Position Details
- Part-time staff: 12-18 hours/week | $35-42/hour, based on skills and experience
- Location: anywhere whose time zone is within three hours of US Eastern Time. All collaboration will be online.
- The Web and Tech Specialist will provide their own computer, and reliable internet connection.
