Engaged Buddhism and Dismantling the Doctrine of Discovery

This space is open for reflecting on and expressing grief, despair, or other emotions related to the recent devastating hurricanes in the Southeast U.S. and the raging wildfires in California.

During this retreat honoring the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., we will practice insight meditation while interweaving the teachings of the Buddha with those of Dr. King. With mindfulness and clarity, we will cultivate the capacity to liberate our minds and hearts so that we might better learn to do our own work in service of collective liberation and respond appropriately with wise, compassionate action in the world.

Join us on one or two Sundays each month, in the continued commitment to social and environmental engagement and justice in this very complex time, to exploring the roots of structural violence in our social systems, and to engaging in the world in a courageous way based on contemplative practice and views that actualize non-separateness, interbeing, equity, compassion, justice, integrity, courage, dignity, and unshakable awareness.
