About This Role

The EcoDharma Staff Writer will take responsibility for One Earth Sangha’s external communications, including managing our newsletter production, creative and copy writing, and developing the One Earth Sangha voice. They will also need to consider how external messaging, storytelling, and website content may further advance One Earth Sangha’s evolving organizational goals. This role requires excellent skills in writing, editing, collaboration, and content development. 

Core Responsibilities

Writing

  • Learning and developing the One Earth Sangha writing voice
  • Draft and refine a monthly newsletter introduction
  • Work with the Lead Editor to identify article titles, imagery, pullquotes, and write an excerpt for the weekly article
  • Work with Social Media lead on copy for weekly posts
  • Work with Director on revising existing website copy and crafting new website materials
  • Support Program Manager with copy as needed for promotions, event descriptions, etc.

Essential Qualifications

  • Excellent, effective writing ability and demonstrated experience
  • Strong interest in how EcoDharma may directly speak to the metacrisis and serve as a foundation for an appropriate, collective response
  • Collaboration skills across team and workstreams
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Comfort with technology and appetite for learning new systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Grounding in social and environmental justice, and systems change theories and practices
  • Interest in recruiting and managing volunteers
  • Experience information system including Google Workspace applications, Wordpress, Mailchimp, and Trello

Position Details

  • Hours: 10 hours per week
  • Rate: $25–30/hour, based on experience
  • Schedule: Flexible distribution of hours across the work week
  • Location: Remote, within three hours of US Eastern Time
