Fierce Compassion

Black Women Buddhist Practices for Healing Self and Earth: A BIPOC retreat

event

Hosted by

Barre Center for Buddhist Studies

From the Organizer:

Led by Dr. Melanie Harris, this program draws on compassion practices shaped by five Black Women Buddhists teachers — Tina Turner, Alice Walker, Kaira Jewel Lingo, Melanie L. Harris, and bell hooks. Non-violent forms of fierce compassion point us to healing the places in us that have been harmed, empowering us to be agents of compassion, anchored in hope. For this reason, our time together will include Buddhist chanting, music of the Black spirituals tradition, grief writing, and contemplative practices of prayer, breathing, and walking meditation.

Barre Center for Buddhist Studies  is the host of this event. Please contact them with any questions.

Community Care Teams Information Session

As part of Healing Democracy work with the Movement Chaplain’s Network, MNIPL is helping communities of faith, conscience, and spiritual or religious practice across the state become safe places of connection and groundedness before, during, and after the election. We are hosting one more training/community conversation about these Community Care Teams. During this time you will learn about what it takes to activate a care team during this election season and we’ll lean into how these care teams can bring life and purpose to your faith community.
