Support Our Work
Thank you for showing me how to keep my heart open and practice fierce compassionate action in this time of great challenge in our country and on our planet.
— 2020 participant in the EcoSattva Training
While the world’s attention has been focused elsewhere, on the pandemic, justice, livelihoods, and democratic institutions, to name a few and all for good reason, conditions for life on Earth continue to decline. Despite a dramatic slowdown of the world-wide economy, storms and wildfires continue devastate landscapes, forests continue to be cleared, and ecosystems continue to be poisoned, and in the backdrop seas rise, ice melts, and droughts deepen.
At such times, we at One Earth Sangha believe that the Dharma and Dharma practitioners have an important role to play. While the human tendency is to turn away from a potentially overwhelming situation, falling into denial, rage, despair, or paralyzing fear, we can learn to stay. With the help of the Dharma and one another, we can come to terms with our reality, and respond together from a place of wisdom and compassion.
A monk once asked the Zen master Yun Men, “What is the work of the Buddha’s whole life?”
Yun Men replied, “An appropriate response.”
Some would say we this isn’t the time to invest in spiritual endeavors and they would be right in their concerns. But we submit that it is the integration of the spiritual with the active, the path of engaged practice, that enables our efforts to be durable and genuinely helpful.
As we develop the space of EcoDharma, offer programs like the EcoSattva Training, connect local EcoSanghas, offer opportunities for engagement, and provide an ongoing stream of EcoDharma, we invite you to support our work.
Every donation matters. We commit to you to stretch every dollar as far as we possibly can. A contribution of $100 USD, for example:
- Covers most of a scholarship for one EcoSattva Training participant
- Enables and adds to guaranteed payments to our EcoDharma teachers
- Keeps the technical infrastructure of our platform, our “virtual ecodharma center,” running for a month
- Enables us to keep our all our communication channels running for a month
- Supports the work of coordinating with interfaith partners on engagement opportunities
The founders, director and volunteer staff of One Earth Sangha offer this space as our own expression of dana, or generosity, to the Earth and to the Buddhist wisdom tradition. Generosity is the first of the ten paramis, or qualities of character, to be perfected in spiritual life. The very act of giving benefits the person who gives, for it opens the heart, lessens self-absorption, and serves the well being of others. Simply offering a small favor, a kind thought, a meal, or a flower may be a sincere form of spiritual practice.
We invite you to support our work, either financially, or, equally important, through service. To offering your skills and time, please see our volunteering page. To support us financially, you can make your one-time or monthly donation below. Monthly donations are especially helpful for us to sustain our work over time. Know that whatever you can give is deeply appreciated!
Inspire Fierce Compassion
For a donation of $500 or more, we’re offering a special thank you gift. This banner with the slogan “Embody Fierce Compassion” is approximately 2’x3′, silk screened on linen. As these are made by hand, each is slightly different. Many have been used in demonstrations and displayed in Dharma centers to represent a call and a way for all of us to engage in social issues. If you’re interested, make your donation below and then provide your shipping address on this separate form.

Dedication of Merit
May any goodness generated here be extended out into the world
May all places be held sacred.
May all beings be cherished.
May all injustices of oppression and devaluation
be fully righted, remedied and healed.
May all wounds to forests, rivers, deserts, oceans,
all wounds to Mother Earth be lovingly restored to bountiful health.
May all beings everywhere delight in whale song, birdsong and blue sky.
May all beings abide in peace and well-being, awaken and be free.
