Join the People’s Climate March

pcm-poster-fullIn September, heads of state (including President Obama) are coming to New York City for a historic summit on climate change. With our future on the line, we will take a weekend and use it to bend the course of history. Leaders from our community, like Bhikkhu Bodhi and Santussika Bhikkhuni are urging us to take notice and participate. Without a doubt, the People’s Climate March will be the largest single event on climate that has been organized to date. Get more information about the People’s Climate March at peoplesclimate.org. Check out our introduction to this important event for our community.

Are You In?

You can join One Earth Sangha in this global event in two ways:

  • Come Together in New York City
There are buses coming from around the US and even a train, the People’s Climate Train, with Buddhist Leaders Ayya Santussika, Ayya Santacitta and Thanissara, bringing folks from San Francisco through Denver, Chicago and other major northern US cities arriving in New York. Find more transportation options here. We’ll be gathering as a Buddhist/Mindfulness/Yoga community at the New York Insight Center on Saturday, September 20th, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm to meet, practice together and prepare for Sunday’s march. Santussika & Santacitta Bhikkhunis and Thanissara will guide a support session called “Preparing the Heart for Practice in Action.”On the Big Day, Sunday, September 21st, at noon, we’ll be joining as a Buddhist community with the Interfaith contingent for the March. There will be a pre-March multi-faith prayer service beginning at 11:00 am. The service, sponsored by GreenFaith and OurVoices.net, will feature world-class musicians and the participation of dozens of clergy from a multitude of faith traditions.
  • Come Together in Your Area
The People’s Climate March is going global with events on September 20 and 21 all around the world. Whether you are 2, 20 or 2,000, we invite you to gather with sangha members and others in your community to share practices, images, quotes, and your earth-loving, earth-action Dharma!
