Time to Stand Up: New Sangha Events Directory

Taking a cue from activist / Dharma teacher Thanissara’s magnificent new book, Time to Stand Up, we invite you to join or add events that develop and demonstrate our interdependence with all of life! Find your fellow practitioners at an upcoming demonstration of gather your local sangha to resource yourselves for showing up for life.
One Earth Sangha will now offer a global list of events that express a Buddhist / mindfulness response to ecological crises. Events that address multiple issues (e.g., racism, economic injustice and environmental health) are encouraged. You’re invited to list events from your local sangha, including earth-oriented day-longs, retreats and even regular sangha meetings. We also want you to share demonstration and direct action events, including those associated with the Pope’s visit to the UN in September, the People’s Pilgrimage, the Day of National Action, etc. You, the members of our Sangha, are encouraged to submit events, whether they be from the Dharma community, other faith groups or secular, where you wish to gather other Buddhist / mindfulness practitioners to participate.

The list of events is just getting started. What we have so far is shown below and the growing list will always be available here on our site and from the main menu under “Get Involved.” The next five events will be listed on the side bar of all content pages on our site.

Please let us know how we can make this work for you our community using the comments below or by sending an email to connect@1earthsangha.org.

It’s time to stand up.

  1. How do we submit events, here? If so here’s an event happening in the Bay Area next Monday 9/28/15 8am starting at Justin Herman Plaza in San Francisco. “Flood Wall Street West” a Mass March and Rally modeled after the Flood Wall Street action that was held after the People’s Climate March last year. Here is the FB page https://www.facebook.com/events/146090775731297/

  2. Hi Anne!

You can always post an event on our site via the “Sangha Events” page (link: http://www.oneearthsangha.org/events/). This page can be found in the drop down menu under “Get Involved”.

Once you are on the Sangha Events page, scroll down and push the orange “My Events / New Event” button to begin the process of posting an event.

You do need a user account on our site in order to post. I believe you have one already (as a participant in the EcoSattva training who is registered to use the online forums – you would use the same user account). Folks who don’t have a user account will be guided to create one after pushing the “My Events / New Event” button.
